ABOUT US

According to Temp Digest, the average lifespan of a family business is just 24 years -about the length of the founder's time in business. Additionally, less than 1/3 of family businesses survive into the 2nd generation, and just 16% make it to the 3rd generation.

We at Advanced Personnel Services are proud to say we have survived some pretty difficult odds! In 1945, Mildred and Charles Kees, Sr. opened "Advanced Temporary Services" in Paterson, NJ. Serving as pioneers of the staffing industry, both Mildred & Charlie were well-respected members of the local business community. They were quite a team... rarely seen apart and always having fun with friends and family.

When Mildred and Charlie retired to Florida in the early 1980's, the company was left in the able hands of their eldest son, Charles Kees, Jr. (Chuck). Advanced Temporary Services then became "Advanced Personnel Services" to encompass our Permanent Placement and Payroll services. This was the boom of the staffing industry. Chuck used his creativity and immense community presence to keep APS ahead of the competition. It was here that APS was able to establish our motto of "Professional Service with a Personal Touch." Chuck personally made sure each client knew his name and that he stood behind each and every placement. He also made a point of handing out the paychecks each week and thanking each temporary employee for their hard work.

While Chuck still serves in the "official" capacity of company President, the day to day operations are now in the hands of his children, Dan Kees and Susie Kees West, the third generation of the Kees Family. Again, the strength of our longevity is based upon having strong ties to the community, a focus on family values, and the ability to understand and that each placement requires a satisfied customer and employee.

Prior to that, she worked at AccuStaff, a leading Northern Florida staffing service, and at Interim Staffing in Washington, D.C. Following in Dan footsteps, Susie also graduated from DePaul Catholic High School and the University of Richmond. Having lived in the south for many years, Susie heeded the call and returned to North Jersey in 1995. She and her husband Mark live in Lincoln Park and have one son, Scott. Susie is active in her community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Lincoln Park Police Athletic League and volunteering with the PTO. She can usually be found on the sidelines cheering for Scott at his many sporting events.
